Arlene Jane (Wolcott) Farrell, 98, of Camden, Maine passed away on September 7, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Born February 8, 1919 in Elizaville, New York, she is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Florence (Stickles) Wolcott of Elizaville, and her late husband of 46 years, Lamont Farrell of Northport, New York. She lived many years in Northport, NY, prior to moving to Jacksonville, FL; Winchester, VA; and Camden, ME.
She is survived by her daughters, Arlene (Farrell) McCabe of Dallas, TX.; Susan (Farrell) Davis of Philadelphia, PA.; Michele Farrell-Oxton (Wayne) of Rockport, ME.; son-in-law, David Evans of Fairport, NY; daughter-in-law, Carol Farrell of Flowery Branch, GA.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 9 nieces and 3 nephews. Her son, Raymond Farrell, daughter, Joanne (Farrell) Evans, sons-in-law, Eddie McCabe, and Lee Davis; granddaughter, Dana Farrell, and great grandchildren, Brady and Bailey Gilligan have predeceased her.
Her brother, Delevan (Judy) Wolcott of Rhinebeck, NY, and sister, Vivian (Wolcott) Quinn of Poughkeepsie, NY, survive; she is predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille (Wolcott) Holden (John), and Doris (Wolcott) Lawson (Gus) and Jimmy Quinn.
Arlene, "Cookie", attended The Brooklyn School of Nursing, Brooklyn, New York, and began her career in nursing at Kings Park State Hospital, working at Huntington and VA hospitals, St. Johnland Nursing Home, and St. Joseph's School in Kings Park, NY.
Arlene was a long time member of the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of the State of New York, and in 1997, celebrated 40 years as a member of Adah, Chapter No. 52, in Smithtown, New York.
A woman of faith, she was loving, kind and treasured each family member. Her family was the most important part of her life. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, September 29th, at Burnett & White Funeral Home in Red Hook, NY. Funeral services on Saturday, September 30th, at 11:00 am at Elizaville Methodist Church; interment immediately following at Elizaville Methodist Cemetery in Elizaville, NY. Pastor Greg Higgins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elizaville Methodist Church, PO Box 3, Elizaville, NY 12523 with a note in the memo line for Masonry Fund.
