Mary A. "Molly" Thompson, 92, of Red Hook, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born on November 20th, 1925, in Hudson, NY, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary (Porreca) Della Sala. Molly was a graduate of Rhinebeck High School. She continued her education and graduated from Benedictine School of Nursing in Kingston, NY in 1947. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps and a member of the Benedictine Hospital Alumnae Association.
Molly married William G. Thompson, MD and he predeceased her on March 2, 1995.
Molly's career spanned over 34 years as a Registered Nurse at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. She retired in 1980. Following her retirement, Molly and her husband enjoyed traveling.
Molly enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of the Red Hook Golf Club. Other interests included painting, knitting, music and dancing.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughters; Patricia M. (James) Mort of Red Hook, NY, EJ (Glenn) Leibig of Westhampton, NY, and Pamela Ann Sloth of Hopewell Junction, NY; her grandchildren, Erik (Janine) Sloth of Hopewell Junction, NY, Ann Sloth of Esopus, NY, and Jake Leibig of Westhampton, NY; her great grandchildren, Alex and Katie Sloth; along with extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband, her sister, Florence Wilga, predeceased her.
A Celebration of Molly's life will take place in the spring and will be announced at a later time.
Interment will be private.
