Oliver John (Red) Reilly, 99, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Sunday, February 26th, 2017 at The Thompson House in Rhinebeck.
Born on December 16th, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ella (Recker) Reilly. Oliver married Mary (May) Ryan Patterson on Memorial Day 1943 in Brooklyn, NY, and she predeceased him on November 21, 2003
Oliver was a proud member of the NYPD joining the force in 1941 and serving for 20 years in Manhattan and Brooklyn. He was employed by P & S Construction and most recently worked for Williams Lumber where he was affectionately called "Uncle Ollie".
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, James and Patricia Reilly of Clinton Corners, NY; his daughter and son in law, Kathleen and Jay Kane of Palm Desert, Ca; his grandchildren, Jill Reilly and her wife, Beth Humphrey, Jason Reilly, Alexandra Drozda and her husband, Brian, and Natasha Kane.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Lance Corporal William Raymond Reilly, USMC who lost his life in Vietnam on May 26, 1966.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
