Robert W. Gioffi "Bob the Barber", 83, a longtime Rhinebeck resident, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Born on September 26th, 1933, in New Haven, CT. Bob married Josephine DiRubbo in 1960 while living in Connecticut.
A longtime fixture in Rhinebeck, Bob was the owner and operator of the Sportsman Barbershop in the village of Rhinebeck. Well known with his craft, Bob served generations of families throughout his career, he retired in 2009.
Bob was a faithful communicant of Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck.
He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Gioffi of Rhinebeck; his daughter, Lucy Jacqueline Wilson of Germantown; his sons, Alex Gioffi of Rutland, VT, and Paul (Kristina) Gioffi of Moscow, Russia; his grandchildren, Justin, Gregory, and Brian Wilson, and Mitchell, Zachary, and Cody Gioffi; along with his great grandson, Thomas Wilson; and countless friends.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 91 E. Market St. in Rhinebeck on Friday, May 19th, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at Church of the Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck, NY. Fr. Douglas Y. Crawford will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhinecliff.
