Stanley Zatwarnicki, 96, of Millbrook and formerly of Milan, passed away on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 at his home.
Born on October 22, 1920, in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Michael and Katherine (Manko) Zatwarnicki. Stanley married Madeline Chebuske and Madeline survives at home.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and served in the Tank Corp with General Patton on D-Day.
For many years, and until his retirement, Stanley worked as a mechanic for Village of East Hills, NY.
While living in Long Island, he was a member of the American Legion and former parishioner at St. Hyacinth Church in Glen Cove, NY.
Locally, Stanley was a member of the Red Hook Post #7765 VFW.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Leslie Popko of Stony Brook, NY, and a grandson, Daniel Popko of Summerville, MA.
He was predeceased by five siblings.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck, NY. Fr. Douglas Y. Crawford will officiate. Military Honors will follow and interment will be private in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY.
