Hubert (Bert) Veneman Junior, 58, of Flushing, NY and a resident of Elizaville, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019. Born on August 6, 1961 in Flushing, New York, Bert was the son of the late Hubert Veneman, originally from the Netherlands, and Gerda Veneman, now of Elizaville, NY. Bert graduated from Westlake High School, in Thornwood, NY, where he played on the school soccer and baseball teams. Bert enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family and friends, adoring Montauk, which held a special place in his heart. During the summers of his high school years, Bert worked as a baker for his father, who owned a series of bakeries. On the later passing of his father in 1993, Bert managed the Montauk store on Long Island. Bert was awarded a B.A. from Drexel University in Philadelphia and a M.A from the University of Miami, Miami, Florida. He was previously employed as a paralegal for the Kay Shuler law firm in Manhattan. Passionate about all of his interests, Bert was also an avid supporter of the Mets, and visited Shea Stadium many times. Also a soccer aficionado, Bert traveled with his father many times to see the Dutch national soccer team play in Europe. These trips initiated his lifelong love of travel. Bert diligently researched and authored a book over many years, having completed it in 2006. The title is "Report on Stefan Heym: a Critical Analysis of his Autobiography and his Circle of Acquaintances". The nature of the book demanded that he conduct extensive research at library archives in both Paris and London. Bert is survived by his loving mother, Gerda; his loving sister, Ellen, and her husband, Michael McCaghey, along with his niece Madelyn and nephew Shane; Uncle Bruno; and, numerous cousins and extended family in both America and Germany.
