Obituary of Thomas L. Bursis

Thomas L. Bursis, Jr., 89, of Tivoli, NY, died Friday, October 11, 2002 at the Ressurection Nursing Home in Castleton-On-Hudson, NY. A local resident since 1985, he was formerly of Jersey City, NJ. Mr. Bursis was an Assistant Engineer employed by Lumas Combustion in Texas. He retired in 1962. He attended St. Sylvia's Church in Tivoli. Born in Jersey City, NJ on 7/30/1913, he was the son of Thomas L. and Mary Raffele Bursis, Sr. He studied at New Jersey State College Business School for two years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Army Air Corps. Two sisters survive him: Rita Massarelli of Bayonne, NJ, and Catherine Bursis of Castleton-On-Hudson, NY. Several nieces & nephews, including Francine Gruccio of Tivoli, NY, and Thomas M. Bursis of Morro Bay, CA., as well as several great nieces & nephews also survive. He was predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters; Brother John Joseph Bursis, Rev. John M. Bursis, Dominick Bursis and Joseph Bursis, Sister John Marie Bursis and Alvina Colorusso. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 15th at St. Sylvia's Church, Broadway, Tivoli. The Rev. H. Theriault will officiate. Interment will be in St. Sylvia's Cemetery, Tivoli. Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 15th, from 9:30 -10:30 am at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook.
