Obituary of Joan K. Taylor

Joan K. Taylor, 67, of Tivoli, NY, died Monday, Nov 4, 2002, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. A resident of Tivoli for the past 25 years, she previously lived in Hyde Park & Poughkeepsie. Over the years, she worked for various real estate brokers as an independent agent. She also did private duty home care for many years. Mrs. Taylor wrote poems, verse and short stories for most of her life. She also loved flowers and gardening as well as horses, which she owned for many years. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on 2/11/1935, she was the daughter of Frederick and Bertha Schmidt Thurin. She graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. Her husband, Henry C. Taylor, predeceased her. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Taylor Odak of Red Hook, 3 sons, William Lee Turner of Staatsburg, Ron Taylor of Red Hook, and Jeff Taylor of Keeseville, NY, her mother, Bertha Thurin of Tivoli, a sister, Frances Campion and a nephew, George Campion, both of Tivoli, and 2 granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley Taylor. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at St. PeterĀ“s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. Memorial donations may be made in Joan's memory to Hospice Foundation, Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601or the American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
