Rose A. Coon, 79, of Rhinebeck and a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at The Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born on June 17, 1938, in Rhinebeck, NY, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Minnie (Cuomo) Wendover. Rose married Frederick "Jimmy" Coon on February 13, 1964 at the Rowe Methodist Church in Milan and Jimmy predeceased her on May 18, 1999.
Through her career Rose worked at Phoenix Cable, Hudson River Psychiatric Center and Hardeman Orchards.
Known for her quick wit and spunky outlook, Rose enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets in her free time.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathrine Piotti of Red Hook, NY, and Lori Winchester of Red Hook, NY; her grandchildren, Amanda Wooden, Christopher Wooden, Colby Piotti, and Noah Winchester; her siblings, Gladys "Sissy" Williams, Margie Coons, Minnie Wooden, Oscar "Bink" Wendover, Cathy Wendover, and Bill "George" Wendover; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Don Wendover, Alice White, Peter Wendover, Joe Wendover, Annie Brizzie, Donna Smith, and Madeline Burton.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 11 am - 12 pm. Funeral service will be held at 12 pm. Inurnment will follow at St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery, Red Hook.
