Obituary of Lydia Grima

Lydia E. Grima, 73, a longtime Elizaville resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.

Born on October 27, 1944, in Malta to the late Gaetano and Josephine (Siad) Azzopardi.

Lydia was a cook for many years at the Mill Road Elementary School in Red Hook, NY, she loved being in the kitchen. Artistic throughout her life Lydia was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed crafts including painting and ceramics.

Lydia married Charles Grima on May 25, 1963 in Jackson Heights, NY. They've been happily married for over 54 years and Charles survives at their home.

Along with her husband Charles, Lydia is survived by her daughter, Christina (Bryan) Hedges of Pine Plains, NY; her son, Charlie (Brenda Houston) Grima of Germantown, NY; her sister, Carmen Wei of Harlem, NY; her brother, Gaetano Azzopardi of Flemington, NJ; her grandchildren, Emma and Anthony Grima, Cody and Gabriel Hedges, and Lily Houston; former daughter in law, Kelly Pinho; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Lydia is predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Mizzi and Paula DeFelice.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Home on Sunday, December 10th, 2017 from 12 to 2 pm & 4 to 6 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11 am at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

Memorial donations may be made in Lydia's memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, www/stjude.org/memorial.
