Obituary of Dorothy Marian

               Dorothy B. Marian, a resident of Nevis since 1958 died Friday May 18th, 2018 in the loving care of the staff at Loris Rehab and Nursing Center, SC. Mrs. Marian was born October 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Arlie McClain Brown and Percy H. Brown at Greenville, VA and McClungs Business School, Greensboro, NC.

             On February 4, 1944 she married Ernest V. Marian of Poughkeepsie, NY at the Air Force Base Chapel, Avon Park, FL. Major Marian died July 21, 1993.

            Prior to her marriage Mrs. Marian was employed by the British Government in Washington DC. She was a bookkeeper in Poughkeepsie for several years before joining IBM in 1961. At the time of her retirement in 1989 she was manager of the cash fund and accounting services at the Poughkeepsie Customer Education Center.

            She was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, the IBM Retiree Club, the Rhinebeck Chapter of AARP and a member and past Regent of the Chancellor Livingston Chapter of the DAR. She was a twenty-five-year member of the former Northern Dutchess Business Professional Women’s Organization and was a past President and Director of District IX. For over thirty years and until her retirement she was active in first aid and as a notary. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Red Hook.

            Mrs. Marian enjoyed theater and travel. In addition to most all of North America, she had visited several countries on each of four other continents.

            Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Marian of NC, a son Richard Marian of Dalzell, SC, two granddaughters, Debora Grundt of NC and Michelle Feller of Tivoli. Four great grandchildren, Ashley Page, of NC and Sarah, Emily, and Kevin Feller, of Tivoli, two nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, William H. Brown.

            Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Loris Rehab and Nursing Center in Loris, SC for all their loving care.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Tuesday May 29, 2018 from 11 AM -1 PM with a service at 1PM. Entombment to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
