Robert (Bobcat) Schultz died peacefully on August 16, 2018 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Rhinebeck, New York on March 21, 1950, Robert had been a self-employed house painter on Sanibel Island, Florida and then locally in the Red Hook area, also working for his cousin Don of Schultz Painting. He had been an avid hiker as a member of the Catskill 3500 Club and hiked over 1000 miles on the Appalachian Trail. He had been a friend of Bill W. since July 4, 1990. He was the sexton at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Hook and served on the property committee and church council.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert J. Schultz, Sr., and is survived by his mother Isobel. Also surviving are his sister Cheryl (Richard)Blakney, brother Rory Schultz, nephew Jason (Hayley)Blakney, niece Janel (Kevin Fields) Blakney, grandnephew Emmett, grandniece Sage, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on September 5 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Hook. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
