Obituary of Andrew G. Demeter

Andrew G. Demeter, 74, a lifelong Kingston resident, passed away on Thursday, June 6th, 2019 at his home.


Born on August 6, 1944, in Kingston, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Nagy) Demeter. Andrew married Donna Eisele on August 17, 1969 at St. Coleman's Church in East Kingston, NY. Donna survives at home in Kingston.


Drew served in the Army National Guard 156 Field Artillery for over 20 years.


For many years and until his retirement, Drew worked as an electrician with the IBEW Local 363 based in Harriman, NY.


Drew enjoyed riding his Harley and was a member of the Woodstock Harley Club for many years. He also coached in the local Special Olympics and worked the "chain gang" for Kingston High School Football.


He, along with his wife were former parishioners at St. Coleman's Church in East Kingston, NY.


In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, he is survived by his children, Andrew Demeter of Seattle, WA, and Jennifer (Nick) Borgogno of Apex, NC; his siblings, Elizabeth (Joseph) Amendola of Kingston, NY, and Bruce (Lisa) Demeter of Lake Katrine, NY; along with nieces, nephews, extend family, countless colleagues and friends.


Friends may call at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, NY on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at St. Coleman's Church, East Kingston, NY. Interment will be private.


Memorial donations may be made in Drew's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF- Westchester Fairfield Hudson Valley, 30 Glenn St., Suite 409, White Plains, NY 10603.
