Born on May 19, 1952, in Clifton, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Stephen Kapeller and Joan Knapek. Lydia graduated with her Bachelor's Degree from William Patterson University and a Master's Degree from SUNY New Paltz. Lydia married Thomas Cordier on December 11, 1976 in Clifton, N.J. Tom survives at home More than anything else, in life, Lydia was a friend and teacher. She taught special education at Mill Road Elementary School, and was a teacher for 34 years. She loved teaching and through it was able to have a positive impact on the lives of so many. In addition to teaching, Lydia had many talents and many hobbies. In her free time, Lydia enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family, especially at their summer camp on Lake George. She loved reading and always had a book nearby. She was an avid gardener and founded the Garden at Mill Road School – the first of its kind in the area. Besides gardening she enjoyed being active and tried to spend as much time as possible outdoors. She could often be found hiking, skiing, windsurfing, or kayaking. Finally, she was a passionate volunteer and always willing to support a friend in need or worthy cause. In addition to her husband Tom, Lydia is survived by her daughters Danielle Cordier of Tivoli, N.Y., Kimberly (Brendan) Mosher of Corning, NY, Erica (Noelle) Cordier of Kingston, NY, and son, Tim (Wendy) Cordier, of Beaufort, NC. She is also survived by her brother Stephen (Jane) Kapeller from Richmond, V.A., and four loving grandchildren Sam, Luke, Dean, and Ruby along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends from Tivoli and Huletts Landing.
