Nollaig (Catherine) Coleman, 71, of Coxsackie, NY, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Thursday, September 17th, 2020 at the St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY following a six year courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on December 13th, 1948, in County Cork, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late John and Teresa (Walsh) Hourihan. Nollaig married Finbarr Coleman on July 12, 1969 in County Cork, Ireland. In 1981, they moved their family to the United States and lived in the loving community of Coxsackie, NY for 39 years.
In addition to raising her family, Nollaig worked, until her retirement, as a Nurse's Aide at the former Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill, NY.
She was a longtime Parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Coxsackie, NY.
In her youth, Nollaig was part of the Irish Country Women's Association, where she took part in several Irish Dancing competitions. She continued her love for Irish music with many evenings out dancing in East Durham and the annual Walsh Family Reunion in Cape Cod. Her love for her home country brought her back there often.
In addition to her loving husband and dance partner of 51 years, she is survived by her children, John (Lynn) Coleman of Coxsackie, NY, Darragh (Melinda) Coleman of Southborough, MA, Tyrone (Allison) Coleman of Coxsackie, NY, Nicola Coleman of Albany, NY, Gearoid (Jessica) Coleman of Coxsackie, NY, and Deirdre (Fred) Marano of Winston Salem, NC; her loving grandchildren, Kieran, Bridgett, Izabella, Gavin, Brenna, Sophie, Tessa, Maeve, Niamh, Teagan, Sergio, Gabriel, Kinley and Cora; her siblings, Eleanor McGrath of Coxsackie, NY, Noreen (Teddy) Fitzgerald of Sun City, FL, Mona (Paul) Reamer of Sun City, FL, Rose (Dennis) Carroll of Kinsale, IRE, Patjoe (Rose) Hourihan of London, ENG, Sean (Betty) Hourihan of Douglas, IRE, and Timothy (Renee) Hourihan of Mount Pleasant, SC; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Nollaig will forever be remembered for the love of her family, her strong faith, her style and her grace.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary's RC Church, 80 Mansion St., Coxsackie, NY on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Mass of Christian burial will be private. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Coxsackie.
