Obituary of James C. Stagias

James C. Stagias, 77, a lifelong Red Hook resident, passed away on March 30, 2021. Born on March 1, 1944, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Florence (Shaw) Stagias. A lifelong farmer, Jim was the owner and operator of Stagias Orchard & Farms in Red Hook. He was well known for his cider donuts and homemade pies. He is survived by his siblings, Charles Stagias of Germantown, NY, Richard Howland of Red Hook, NY, and Vivian Coy Howland of Onalaska, WA; his nephews, William (Kelly) Stagias of Elizaville, NY and James ( Pamela) Stagias of Elizaville, NY; his great nephew, James Joseph (Jennifer) Stagias of Elizaville, NY; his great nieces- who fondly called him "Gruncle", short for great uncle- Samantha Stagias of Elizaville, NY, and Victoria (Tom) Barthelmes of Scarborough, ME; , along with extended family, numerous friends, and colleagues. In addition to his parents, his longtime companion and friend, Nancy Hart, and nephew, Charles Stagias, Jr predeceased him. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Red Hook on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 5 to 7 pm. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his family plot in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook, NY. Rev. Jackie Jefferson will officiate. Due to Covid-19/ NYS Guidelines- masks, social distancing, & capacity limitations will be adhered to during all services. During visitation, please be respectful to those who may be waiting to visit by keeping your stay brief if possible. Your patience is appreciated. Thank you. Jim was a very knowledgeable and proud of the history in Red Hook.
